WPT LAUNCH PARTY GRAND SIERRA RESORT RENO NV
by Jeff Weismann aka: freeringo
Won tickets on Rounders Radio
The WPT Launch Party at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno on March 24 was the
party of the year for this humble on-line poker player. My brother and I felt
right at home with the friendly folks that make up the WPT. Steve Lipscomb,
President, founder and CEO of the WPT said that in 20 years, the WPT will be
as big a name as the NFL or NBA. With the support of the most charismatic
duo on TV in Mike Sexton and Vince Van Patton, I believe it will happen much
sooner. The drinks were free and the food just kept coming, what more could we
ask for? Pole Girls? Why not! All this provided by the fine management of the
City Live Club. As we mingled with the pros, I realized that these guys are just
everyday normal people. They all had a great sense of humor, along with a common
look in their eyes that could see right through to your soul. That is when I understood that playing live poker is not for a recluse like me. It is for the pro’s like the ones I had the honor to meet this night. JC Tran was quite elusive when I tried to get a picture of him. I did manage a lovely shot of the back of his head though. Layne Flack was quite jovial and friendly, sporting his new haircut. “Where’s all his nice hair?” Barry Greenstein was also present, enjoying himself in a picture I snapped.. Mike Sexton said that he spends most of his free time playing golf in his hometown of Las Vegas. Vince Van Patton mentioned that his father Dick is 79 years old now, and he has been in good health. He also said that he brought his kids with him on this trip and it was good to spend Easter together with his family. Mike did indicate that Vince carries a 7 handicap in Golf. Good looking and he can play golf too. Woof!
The new WPT host this year Layla, is quite looker indeed. I hope everyone enjoys the picture I got of her and her co-worker having some fun. My only regret is that I couldn’t
stay the night and go behind the scenes while the WPT broadcasted their show live. The WPT really were the best of hosts. Thank you World Poker Tour and Rounders Radio for giving my brother and I the time of our lives and a very special thanks to the pole girls for the great souvenirs.

The WPT seem to be going downhill since I wrote this story
last spring. They lost their sponsers Michelob, then budwiser.
They lost their host Kayla who would rather be a reporter on G4
channel "Attack of the show". Great show by the way if you haven't
seen it.
They lost their spot on the Travel channel, then went to the Game show
Network GSN and now they are on Comcast Sports. They are about to expand to the world wide market this next year, but they are losing big money right now. I am worried they may not survive another year.
They are in dire need of a good marketing agent.
We want the WPT to be successful.
WAKE UP STEVE LIPSCOMB
