Just after the second break im sitting on around $18k in chips, I look down to see Ad5d, im before the dealer (late position) and only one other caller, so I flat call the 1k blind, button calls, so does SB and BB checks.

FLOP: K A 4 - rainbow, SB checks, BB fires out 5k, I know how this guy plays, picking him on a King, then guy before me insta-calls, im thinking to myself, what's going on here, I raise to 10k, button folds, so does SB and BB, but I get one caller. turn - 2 - still a rainbow board, guy checks, I check, river - 3, I make a straight, guy checks, I push all-in, he snap calls me, I flip my cards and reach for the pot, he then flips over 5 6, I couldn't believe it, after the push on the flop, he calls on nothing and hits runner runner for a straight!

After he received a bit of abuse from everyone at the table we started up again, I still had about 2k left so push all-in the next hand blind, I got 3 callers, one being the guy who had just given me the bad beat. flop - A A K, everyone checks, Turn J, rainbow board, the guy bets out and pushes everyone out, im picking him on an A or K, knew he didn't have the straight, we flip cards, I have 10 2, he shows K Q, I river a Q At least I got some back off him have had a better run since then, hope it keeps going.

The Strategic and Defence Studies Centre (SDSC) is a university department in the Research School of Pacific and Asian Studies at the Australian National University. It is Australia's oldest-established centre for the study of strategic, defence and wider security issues and a leading regional think tank on these topics. The Centre was established in 1966 by Professor T.B. It awards high-performing PhD students with the Sir Arthur Tange PhD Scholarships in Strategic & Defence Policy (named in honour of the former Australian Secretary of Defence) and outstanding postgraduate students with the T.B. Millar Scholarship.

The SDSC staff gives frequent lectures and seminars for other departments within the ANU and other universities, as well as to various government departments. The Centre has also assisted Australia's major defence training institution, the Australian Defence College, with the strategic studies sections of its courses. Members of the Centre provide advice and training courses in strategic affairs to the Australian Department of Defence and the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. The SDSC, furthermore, delivers the Graduate Studies in Strategy and Defence Program and is host of the Boeing Library.

The staff of the SDSC has established professional links with other Australian and overseas universities and centres specialising in strategic and security issues as the Centre aims to foster an enhanced pattern of liaison through the exchange of ideas, personal contacts and, where appropriate, joint projects. The scholars at the SDSC do also provide expert commentary on important defence issues to the Australian and overseas media. Current staff include thinkers at the forefront of Australia's strategic debate, such as Prof. Hugh White, Prof. Desmond Ball, Prof. Paul Dibb, Dr. Rob Ayson, Admiral Chris Barrie (former Chief of Defence Force), Dr. Daniel Marston, Dr. Ron Huisken, Dr. Stephen Frueling, and Dr. Brendan Taylor.
