Do you think the yankees are this year? I mean they added AJ, sabathia and texiera with joba staying on and mariano to close..... seems like a stacked team to me. But the thing is im a rays fan and also like their team, and you got the red sox in the same division. I think they will take 2nd in the division behind the rays and miss the wildcard. Your thoughts?

They will make the playoffs. Last year was a fluke. They have such a high bankroll, its hard for them not to make the postseason year after year. The best thing for baseball is when the Yankees or Redsox make it to the world series and lose to a low mid-market team that has built there team smartly. they have so many fans but also so many people love to see them lose.

There is more to playing winning baseball than having a "stacked" team based on salary. Yes they have some great players, but the outside distractions in NY are extreme. The media has a way of making players both great and worse at times. I don't see the Yankees having the chemistry to make the playoffs. I think they will be close to the wild card, but fall just short. The Yankees should concentrate on their farm system, not just signing the big name players for a few years.

Bad chemistry is a aspect that can be overcome. The Yankees pitching staff got hurt last year. Thats why they didnt make the post season. Pitching wins games and if you can just go out and buy the top 5 starters in baseball. Fill the bullpen with guys who would be 2nd/3rd starters and starting closers on other clubs. Its pretty much a gaurantee you are going make the post season, barring 2 or 3 of them dont get injured. Which is what happened last year... Now anything can happen when the post season starts. Its a brand new season and the postseason just brings out the best in some guys and others can feed off the atmosphere that the good postseason players create. All this = Yankees make the post season and fall in the ACLS or the World Series. Im thinking that the Cubs have to be due this year, but they say that every year and they always choke. So, who knows...
