Default Worst Bad Beat of All Time, I think

Here's what happened to me in a live cash game.

    No bull ****.

I don't remember suites, it was four years ago but the most brutal beat in history ever is what it had to have been, or close to.

I have pockets nines and raise 20$.

Blinds are 1/2/5. It's 1/2 but if you want to play you have to pay 5.

I don't know it's a cash house and those were the rules.

Another guy calls me and then the flop comes out

    J 9 9.

I have quad nines and I am trying very hard not to flip out and controll my face so I don't give away anything.

I bet 45$ and the guy behind me raises to 145$. I'm calling obviously but I try to make it look like I'm having a difficult decision and then call it.

The turn comes 4 so It's pretty much a blank. The flop was rainbow.

    I do remember that.

I'm first to act and I bet 65$. He re-raises me to put me all in.

I call and I'm all in for around $345.

We flip the cards over and he had JJ, the full house of Jacks full of Nines, and I have quad nines.

The River comes a J and I freaking am stunned and just walk away and take a drink.

It's the worst beat I've ever had, and I got screwed twice because they got rid of the bad beat a week before because no one had gotten it and it was over 10k$ so they changed it to high hand.

I got double screwed because I didn't get the jackpot.

Thinking about it now still makes me sick, ergh.

Now that is what I would call sick nasty. Flop quad 9's then lose to quad J's on the river. That had to be stunning. Thats something you dont see everyday either. Then the 10k jackpot was yours! But...... they took it out a week ago. Thats just a bad break.

Negative. A 1 outer isnt that uncommon (thought it sucks).

And why the huge bet on the flop??? Ssurely cehck/calling works better??

And as for the worst bad beat ever, ive got a youtube link (when i find it) or the literal worst bad beat possible.

I can honestly say I gave up poker for three months after this happened. It was devastating. And my bank roll was dead so I started back up with freerolls and I'm still playing them with some small buy ins.

Eejit I know one outers happen all the time now, but this was years ago when I was first starting out and didn't know anything.

And I didn't know to check the flop as it was years ago, when I was first starting, so hopefully you can understand the noob mistakes.

Also, Wouldn't the worst bad beat be like flopping straight flush bottom end and runner runner for the royal or something to that effect?

That seems like the logical worst bad beat possible to me.

A Bad Beat just means you are playing well.

Learn to absorb it and move on.

Don't let it affect your future judgements.

I don't let it effect me anymore.

I used to never play pocket nines actually. But now I can play them.

Anyways I can't let it effect my play so I try really hard to not let it.

If this beat blew your bankroll... why was it all on one table at the same time?

You don't read my posts do you? lol

I've said repeatedly in the thread but I'll say it one more time for you. I was new to poker when I started.

I knew nothing about bankroll management.

There that should answer your question.

Even as a new player... surely playing with everything you own at one table, you can bust it in one hand....

    Simple... wel, common sense

LOL, this thread made me laugh. Funny that players can remember hands like that years after they occured. And to think i can barely remember where i put my car keys every morning. The worst part about that story is the bad beat. I remember watching a video of someone winning like 60k plus in the bad beat, and in the video, u can see someone leave right before the hand begins. AS the hand progresses, they get back onto the table and boom the bad beat jackpot gets hit. All the chips come down and spread out to everyone BUT the guy who left a few seconds earlier.... if that guy had just stayed at the table instead of leaving for four seconds, he wouldve won 11k plus... so yea, u take ur worst beat, and i guarentee there 100 out there that are way worse.

Can't believe that guy walked out and missed 11k.

    That would've sucked.

It's happened to me and I got screwed when they changed it, but now I'll only play if they have a bad beat, and not a high hand jack pot.
