Colds SUCK!

So once every few years I get a NASTY cold, well this is my 2nd in a few months, and it is awful! I can't smell, taste, breathe, lol. I keep blowing and blowing my nose, but nothing is coming out, yet is feels so stuffed up. I wish they had a pill (maybe they do) that you could take that would knock you out for a few days till all the "germs" run through my nose and lungs, and I could wake up to no cold! IS there anything out there that can do this? I am only half serious, but might do it. I just want to sleep, even for a few hours, without having to wake up to cough, or wipe my nose. Oh and of course I get invited to dinner at this awesome Oriental place that I have been craving for weeks, but I can't go, would be a waste, can't taste a darn thing. So I haven't eating, just been drinking lots of orange juice ( I hear it helps the body) and water (helps too obv).

Any of you have any tricks, or remedies to help just a little?

I tried taking a hot hot shower last night, it was so wonderful, but when I got out, my ear started burning and felt a lot of pressure, I sure hope I am not getting an ear infection. I know how I got sick too, a girl at work. I even told myself "stay away from that woman" when I saw her blowing her nose all day, well guess it didin't work.

Sudafed will normally do the trick for me. Also, Alka-Seltzer Plus does wonders. If you want to be knocked out, take a Hydrocodone or Vicodin and a sleeping gel. It's not the healthiest thing in the world but like a lot of things, it will comfort your illness.
