Thread: Player Notes

    Default Player Notes

Who actually takes notes on players and uses them? I think it's a great tool but I don't actually believe that you can note someone's play online at one giving time.

yeah taking notes is a joke. i think that if u cant follow a players play by sitting with them then u should go play black jack.

I very much disagree. The purpose of taking notes is to have a good idea of how your opponents play the next time you sit with them. And at lower stakes, you'll see a few people over and over again, and player at lower stakes generally don't change up their play very much.

no offence, but thats possibly the daftest thing ever!!!
You take notes on players to record vital info, like the can easily fire all 3 bullets with no hand, or they are prone to spewing, or they are TAG until level 10 then loosen up, that kind of thing.

This is EXTEMELY elpful if you dont use tracking/HUD software, as if you then play these guys again, youll know all this already without trying to remember them.

And if u play on stars or Tilt, theres 200k ppl. Ive probably played the same guy 10 times and not realised.

I think it's reasonable to take notes if you play heads up or mid-hi ring games. Otherwise it's pretty unlikely that you will see the same people enough to actually benefit from a strategy.

I'm of the belief that note taking does 2 things for you.

First, it gives an idea of what the player is doing next time you face them. I take a lot of notes of different players at FTP, especially if there is a lot of action at the table. I've run into many players that I have notes on. It's helped me more than once make a call with a weak hand because that player has bluffed at pots with nothing in the past.

Second, it forces you to pay attention to what is going on at the table. If you watch your table, even when not in the hand, you will pick up more useful information than you think. Most sites allow you to see the showdown cards of all the players that went to a showdown if you were dealt into the hand. I've used that information to beat players multiple times. I've found, through experience, that if you do those two things, along with a few others, you will make money playing poker in the long run.
