Ok guys, big game is today at 8:00pmET PRIME TIME and wow, do I have to say something here:
4 out of 5 CBS Sports game analists are picking Texas Tech to come away with a victory today (straight up, no spread) when they host Texas today.
I am really thinking Texas Tech can pull out a victory here although I am still not past the shock of 4 out of 5 analists picking Texas Tech over Texas LOL
Here's the comments from each sports analist on this game:
J. Darin Darst: Imagine playing your buddy on XBox or PS2 with the settings on junior varsity. Both teams can easily score in the 40s, meaning this game could come down to "last team with the ball wins." Texas' defense is slightly better, but Texas Tech gets a small edge with the better receivers. Both teams are strong against the run (who cares, right?), but in a close matchup, I'll take the team with a mobile QB (Colt McCoy) and better special teams (Texas). Prediction: Texas 45, Texas Tech 41
Dennis Dodd: Sorry, Bevo, this is where it ends. At world's end to be exact. Tech fans have been waiting for this one since they put on their first pair of Baby Levi's. There is not much love -- OK, none -- for the upper-crust Longhorns in Lubbock. Look, I don't make the hate, I just write about it. Tech gets the nod because they haven't been stopped yet. Texas has the Big 12's best defensive line which is a bit like saying Phyllis Diller is the best looking woman in an empty room. Prediction: Texas Tech 41, Texas 27
Jason Horowitz: In 1956, Texas Tech was admitted to the Southwest Conference just one year removed from finally beating Texas after 20 years of conference rejection. The Red Raiders have been good, but never fully given the respect of the nation because of the style of offense, because people think they don't play defense. Guess what, this team does, and just like in 1998, I think it ruins Texas' national title hopes. Prediction: Texas Tech 45, Texas 38
Johnny Rosenstein: Texas' amazing run finally hits a speed bump. The Longhorns might be the best team in the country, but you just can't expect them to complete the OU-Mizzou-OK State-Tech sweep. Graham Harrell and Michael Crabtree will win at home and snap Tech's five-game skid to Texas. Last year, Texas beat Tech 59-43, but Harrell threw for 466 yards and five TDs. Prediction: Texas Tech 48, Texas 40
Accuscore (computer generated): With the strength of the Big 12, shouldn't these teams get some sort of award just making it through their ridiculously difficult schedules? The Longhorns need to find a way to get up for yet another emotional contest this time on the road in Lubbock. Tech can finally legitimize itself as a real national player (and BCS favorite) with a win on Saturday. The Red Raiders have the offense to score enough, but the question is whether the defense is up to the task of at least slowing down Colt McCoy and the Texas offense. Prediction: Texas Tech 39, Texas 38
