5 Card Trivia Discussion & Suggestions

Wanted to start a new thread where we can throw around some ideas to improve 5 Card Trivia without clogging up the actual contest thread.

First, a few notes...

1. Eventually, I'd like to implement a bonus structure for the 5 Card Trivia game based on the winning hand. Meaning, the higher the winning hand, the bigger the prize.

2. I may change this to something other than trivia down the road, but for now, this seemed like the easiest way to get things going that can involve the greatest number of people.

3. In the trivia format, I think we'll see a bump in activity as it's more of a participation based contest than the other ones we have.

does it have to be a trivia question each time... u could mix in a guess who picture on some days... a pick the winner against the spread football game some days, pick a random game from the arcade -choose a score- and if u beat it u get a card, etc...

I was planning on mixing it up down the road and including "connect the celebrity" as well as some other things.

Feel free to post all suggestions for what we can do instead of trivia, but it has to be something that can be done instantly.

For example, we can't dedicate a full day to an arcade game, but the "connect the celebrity" thing works because it can be done on the spot.

Made some minor changes this week and will consider more changes from contest to contest until we have it right.

could make the game omaha hi/lo... 5$ go to the hi 5$ to the lo... that would spread it around some... all you would have to do is get 5 cards to have a chance at the lo and the people that are here the most would still have a advantage for both due to having more cards

to give more a chance, u could make the game just go til all but 5 cards are given out, then make the last 5 cards the board... but that might take a while

I like both of these suggestions. Before we change things though, I'd like to run through at least two full contests with our current setup just to see how things play out.

im not sure how omaha works exactly... i was just throwing it out there... u could do 5$ for the best stud hand and 5$ to the worst.... or just do holdem w the flop idea... but that would take longer than a wk... but w the extra $ u could make a bad beat jackpot or something

Keep the ideas coming and once we understand how these contest generally play out we can adjust them accordingly.

Deal 2 card board face down, 5 card max. in hand. Sort of a reverse Texas hold em. Best 5 wins.

What do you think of a Best original photo and or video contest?

This should be a monthly contest to give members plenty of time to create and upload a quality photo.

Announce Hi, Low or Hi/Low
Members have a week to earn 4 cards by answering correct questions
On the last 3 days of contest NDN flops 3 common cards, then 1 card and then 1 card.

If it's a Hi or Low card week then a players 2 best cards are used and a player with less than 4 cards can still compete for best hand.

more fun and less work for everyone

the thrill will be like the lottery every 7 days waiting for that river card
it will be standing room only! if only I could operate a hot dog stand outside

above post/idea would create a weekly thrill for multiple members instead of the current 1/2 way through the week and the feeling of can't possibly win because leader has 9 cards and I have 2

What do you think of a Best original photo and or video contest?

My issues with this are...

1. Very few people are capable of producing videos and posting them on the internet.
2. Almost as many people are incapable of doing the same thing with a photo.
3. With regards to photos, there's really no way to tell which ones are original and which ones aren't.
4. It would be tough to declare a winner if we had some genuinely original photos/videos posted.

And would also be a good example of why a photo/video contest really wouldn't be very feasible. Think we need the ease of using technology to progress a bit more.
