Its the same thing. I played bad but i win, you play well and lose.
= what i said!
Nothing perosnal, just an analogy
I ran into a fellow a few days ago. i was very angry and pissed off because no matter what great hand i went into the pot with, almost always, i would lose my the river, regardless of how i played them.
Well this fellow basically said that either i am blind or slightly stupid. And i was offended of course and said how so?, along with some other choice words. He said well you just said so yourself that you know that your good cards keeps losing, yet you cant see the answer lies within all the whining and biatching.
So we got to talking, and after while i began to realize you know what, he is right. You cant fight a system, and a game, that is full of bad players, and bad casinos and whatever else it is that causing what is perceived as a great game when you play by the book, to what poker has become online. You must go with the flow of what is happening, for example, if bad cards are winning, play badly, then on the few good days when good cards are winning great, play those, but the majority of the time good cards suck in the world of online poker. Sure play your good cards also, but always keep in mind that the system of online poker rarely rewards good by the book play
I know this revelation sucks, but it is true. How often do you see someone winning with nothing but good by the book classic poker? probably rarely if not ever, but all the time you see some "donk" slam through the field, win it, and win thousands of dollars.
Why would we ask? who knows for sure, but if you take a good deep look, youll see its true. If you want to adapt to it and benefit from it like ringo here, well thats a different story. This revelation is the difference between being a profitable poker player, or a losing poker player i believe.
Incorrect. Durr, Antonius, Moneymaker (kinda), along with hundreds of others, all play well and win. Consistantly. They are bankrolled for it.
Playing bad cards is not sensible. Playing medium hands (suited connectors/gappers, suited aces, KT, connectors) is ok to limp, but not to go crazy with
Well kind of. What seperates the top players from the rest is ability to play post flop and read their opponents and understand the situtation. Frankly Durrr plays trash all the time, and not because "bad cards are winning today", but because he reads situations so well that he knows when he can fire 3 barrels and get you to fold, where he can get calls after flopping an unlikely monster, and all of the other things in the art of hand reading.
ABC by the book poker strugges to win not because you can't fight the bad players, oh no sir that's hardly the case. The case now is the weakest of the weak have been feasted on and left poker. Loose aggressive players might appear to be bad, while they are exploiting your tight strategy by making you fold when both of you have nothing. Solid, aggresive players have stuck around by countering these players with solid holdings and better timing. And the weak-passive players calling raises with K3 without a plan for how to play the rest of the hand get eaten alive by all of them. And that's the rub. Good players have a plan as soon as they enter the pot. Do you?
Thanks for the input guys
I play mostly by feel and I am always focussed on the other players.
It doesn't matter what cards I have most of the time.
I am looking for easy situations against easy players.
It works quite nicely for me.
I also have a keen sense of the software tendencies.
I have called all ins with 2-3 in the BB and won
I am self taught and have never read a book and I never will.
I learn from my mistakes and I try not to make them twice.
In my poker mind 84% of the time players get folding cards
I prefer to exploit the 84% instead of the 16% of good hands
I always have a plan. Ill know what to do on each flop now as soon as it comes. Ill only timebank or anything if i making a particularly tough decision or makng it look like im doing the opposite of what i have.
As for Durr, thats true, i meant in general you wont see players of any standard calling an all in from the BB with 23 because of "software tendancies". They do it with odds.
