The answer is yes preflop to the $10 raise. In your position you can do pretty much nothing with your hand with pocket 8's. You need to hit the set and even with that you can't feel completely comfortable with everyone calling $14 preflop. However on the flop I don't see folding as an option. Fairly easy to put him on the flush draw, but you are still the favorite. Tough beat. Get a picture next time!

The average raise was the pot limit, about $15, with any 2 cards from him, hes raised with anything from 22, to A5, i had good outs, i was tempted to put him all in preflop, i would have been happy with the $22 in the pot, but that sucked, i didnt actually have him on the flush draw, i had him on a high PP or even a lower set. I didnt think hed be crazy enough to do that on the draw.

I probably would have stayed in for the flop but folded when he went all in – even with trips. Why? 2 heart flop. Sure, trips are pretty, and a flush is not guaranteed, but I'm just paranoid like that.

It's a hard call and you did not do "wrong." Definitely a bad beat... sorry. :(

    eejit....

remember what I told you about the betting system of these poker rooms... look back on my posts and read again. This is a prime example of the system. If you had gone all in preflop you would have won that hand 75% of the time. Because he went all in and you could only match 50% of his bet he ended up winning. If you however doubled his all in you would have won. I have seen this happen so many times dude its not funny. Yes I know that he may not have hit his flush and you may have won... but the problem with the software that is used is not 100% random. You could say it is a bad beat... and may probably be just that... and you could say that his outs were better.... but dude as far as I am concerned and with what I have seen in many poker rooms it just seems to convenient that people hit the flush or the full house or the.... so on and so on. Like I said in my other posts... I am NOT saying that it is rigged... very far from it... but weighted to the higher bet that usually ends up winning the hand. I would have put the player on flush when I saw the 2 hearts flop... that would have had alarm bells going off in my head... yet in your situation you had visions of England winning the FIFA World Cup (not that it will happen mind you... especially when Australia beat Uraguay to qualify... we will win it..LOL). I bet that if he had AA and did the same... and A would have come on the turn or the river... that is the nature of the software that is in use... you could say its a bad beat... co-incidence... whatever you call it, it is a prime example of what I have posted in recent posts...!!!
