5 1/2 months ago I self excluded my self from FTP, because I kept losing money and was depositing a lot. I went for the max 6 months and soon I will get to finally play at the site again. 6 months is a long time considering that I was playing there everyday until I banned myself. Hopefully my luck will turn around when my ban is lifted on Oct.2nd.
This ban has also got me playing elsewhere like absolute, cake, and carbon. Every site is going to be different but playing elsewhere made me realize that FTP is the main site I want to play at.
Anyone else decided to ban themselves off a poker site??? I'd say its pretty hard.
has to be one of the more stranger forms of self dicipline I have heard of,, but if it works for you and it keeps you playing well then i say cool go for it!! I have only done that after a bad beat I tell myself I am not playing there anymore today but never for six months!! hope that plan works out in your favor!!
I can understand how it sounds strange. At the time I put the BAN on FTP I was depositing $200 at a time and would lose it playing $5-10 limit. Losing on bad beats and river cards. I tell you that people play the same at high limits then they are playing $.25-.50. Just a whole bunch of donks I tell you. So I banned myself out of anger and frustration w/ the bad luck I was getting at FTP.
I got banned from Carbon last week.
Im banned from Stars too.
None of those by choice...
(Once for being drunk and.... no mroe comments)
(Once for dumping cash)
That is how it started playing in lower limit fields and just playing tournaments and sit-n-gos... I finally built enough money to play in the larger fields. I ended up going on a winning streak. Then on one night my chips started depleting and I could not hit anything. If i did hit I would lose on some donk hand. It was just a frustrating night. When I was depositing $200 at a time I was trying to get back all the money that I did lose. I was not in a mode of patience and was just concentrating on getting even in the fastest way possible. Not a good idea by the way.
That, my friend, is called TILT. Hopefully more can learn from your mistakes, which would help make it less of a mistake. Thanks for sharing.
Well that is a hard core way of getting yourself in shape after a bad streak, but I hope it worked for ya and you have learned from it, and maybe een gotten better in poker in the process. If you would take my advice, just quit playing cash altogether and really focus your attention on small buy-in private games and tournaments. I have put a very tough regime and rules of playing what when and where, and dont play no where near as much as I use to or the stkes I use to, and I absolutely dont do cash money anymore, in any situation. If it isnt my day, and I will find out in the first few games these days, I will quit and just watch my buddies play, maybe surf the web, watch a ball game. Just set a set of rules that youll go by that are reasonable and stick to em.
And my FTP ban is.... back on!
After EIGHT (count it, 8) days they finally verified the documents proving ownership to the account I was trying to deposit from and reopened my account.
So I log on and try to deposit from the account they just verified.
I'm now banned for the second time for trying to deposit. This place is a joke.
Damn, banning yourself. That is a really good way to get yourself away from Tilt (or, as it were, more tilt than you were already on). I don't think I could every stand to put a 6 month ban on myself, but of course I've never deposited into a poker site, so I've never been in your situation.
Wrong way round Navuta
First of all, I definately agree with Glo that if youre depositing 200 dollars to play 5-10 limit your going to go bust before u make any money. Those limits are way to high for a 200 bankroll, herego the reason you banned yourself. Now was this a personal ban, or is it like other sites, like cake, where you can restrict yourself from playing. Ive never seen that feature on tilt, so im just kinda wondering.
If it was a self-imposed kinda ban, than damn man, god bless you. Being a tilt maniac anyway, i couldnt imagine keeping myself from playing poker on my favorite site, so kudos to you for that. Definately takes a lot of self discipline. At the very least, youre able to recognize the problem that you were depositing and not seeing any reward. Its damn difficult, but sometimes you gotta take a step back from what your doing and make sure that youre seeing things correctly. (although i dont think just switchin sites is the right plan :-p :-p) Having been in that cycle myself, I wish you the best, and hope you dont get back into that negative habit. When you play less frequently you tend to have more mental energy for the game, and u tend to play better. Anytime u need to vent about poker this is the place my brotha.
And shoot, if were all listing the poker sites were banned from; Absolute poker, and ive been negative money on stars for years, somehow my acct is still active though :-p. Feels good to get things off of your chest :-p

Selling it for a lower price?
:bigear: Im all ears!
I meant i literally crap dollar bills. Im that lucky.....
The fact i did it twice in one day didnt help....
I guess it was kinda self imposed because FTP is one of three sites that will let you deposit via echecks. FTP is one of the easiest site to deposit because once you go broke they have a single deposit click. I hate that f'ing thing, I feel that is what got me into trouble. The other sites take credit card/debit card. With that you have to go through the long process to enter the whole 16 digit number, etc. By the time you get to the end of that whole process my frustration would be almost gone, still on tilt but nowhere near as mad as I was with the single deposit click.
I do find my way winning a lot of freerolls and private tournaments but once I win I end up at the cash tables to earn more money. Tournaments take up a lot of time. I do understand that it takes patience to earn a bankroll and that is what I need to learn. Obviously I haven't learned yet because I always lose at the cash tables and never invest my time in small buy ins. I will learn one of these days though. Hopefully...
self imposed banning...hmm ok ...don't get it......but if you are playing out side your means put a cap on what you deposited.....why can't that be done? oh welll good luck controlling yourself when u return.
Why can't it be done? Its because probably I am addicted to gambling and sometimes I have no control over it. I am not gonna tell my life story on gambling but here is a simple explanation. All I can say is that Blackjack is my demon. If I dont play that then I rely on poker to get my money back. I can honestly say that I do have a problem and no control but have not got the help for it. I have tried to put a cap but it always doesnt work out because you can deposit with one click of a button on the mouse. I have controlled and promised myself from going to an actual casino and so far it has worked. Kinda hard living in WA where there are casinos all over the place. In fact I live in a duplex where a casino is right down the street. Anyway, there is a little explanation of that.
