BAP
Eejit was talking to me the other day about something he calls BAP (buy a piece).
Basically, several people contribute money to one person so that person can enter a large poker tournament. Any winnings are then split among the "investors" and the player equally.
I was wondering if there were any NDN members who would be interested in starting something like this up on a weekly basis. We could all contribute the same amount each week, and I would randomly select the player each week.
We could include rules on how often a player can play or any other rules that might apply, but I wanted to see if anyone is interested.
Please let me know your thoughts!
Thanks,
NDN

Im up for this. Its a commen thing in the poker staking world. Rules would definately need to be drawn up but as an initial idea id be interested in investing.
-
I have done this on a local personal basis and it is exciting. I think mre exciting when someone else is playing, especially someone you think plays great. Count me in on it if it's not too expensive
-
Sounds fun, I'd love to but don't know if I should be spending money right now on a deposit to do this.
-
good to see you talking again friend
-
Im in, as i shud be, as i love it
-
maybe, we shall see.Probally maybe.
-
I have wicked ideas for this
-
i am in it ..
but not weekly basis but great ide ejit101 ..
-
forgott how much money do we talk about ???????

Me and Eej have been chatting about this and we think that if it goes ahead then it works best at $1 a share. Hopefully everybody here that wants to play could get themselves at least one if not a couple of shares.
Been thinking bout it some more and if we did go ahead then perhaps an idea for deciding who would play could be a drawing and you get as many entries as shares that you have purchased. So if there were 100 shares and i had 30 shares then i would have a 30% chance of playing etc. with some sort of BI rule (5%ish?) and that no one can play 2 days in a row...
-
I think I would prefer to keep the drawing as random as possible (so no one can "buy" their way into playing more often than others).
I'd also like to see the different results from as wide of a variety of players as possible.
However, it will be everyone's money, so everyone will get a say in how it works!

I think we have to do this correct :) we have to get ideas in here and then have a voting process or a poll ? :P i think
-
yeah i think its open for debate. Id be happy to go with the majority i mean as long as it doesnt end up with Eej playing too much...
... I like to know i might get a return on my investments after all :)

Hehe yes but i what site do we play on is it only tournaments or is it sit and go and so on ?
-
We can always play on it in the texas holdem in ndn casino all go in whit 50 chips that person who wins play in a torunament .?
-
I'm in on both sides of the idea. I will play or provide money for someone to play.
-
YEs but all most privde money an them who wants to play for the group can take a match on the ndn texas holdem casino :)
-
MY plans for this - (these are ideas, this is NDNs show!)
$1 shares, no maximum allowed per peron or for the BAP
Everyone who buys 1 share has a right to play a game.
At no point can more than 5% of the BAP be ued in 1 game.
No HU games - Too variant and much too low reward.
After playing a game the buyin used is put straight back into the BAP
The person playing in their chosen SnG/MTT gets 35% of a cash to keep for themelves.
The other 65% goes into the BAP.
No player can play twice in 2 days.
Players may pass on their turn to play to any other member of the BAP of their choice.
There MUST be a rail thread open for each game, with your username ont he site, tourney ID, 1st hand, swing hands (i.e double ups or stackings) and bust hands/tourney win hands.
Anyone keeping more than they are entitles to, playing a different game e.t.c is banned from the BAP and their money refunded for their shares with no profit (if its in profit) or at the current value (if the BAP is down)
Even though its a free shot at cash, dont play above your usual level (though at first this shud be fine for everyone)
Theoretically the BAP will never bust. the 5% rule (or near it) will keep that in play. The BAP can even have more than 1 player playing each day.
Let me know

What site are we going to use? Has anyone considered this? I'm voting for FTP. Most tournaments around from what I've seen.
-
I have a random name generator that can be used to assign players, it will have a list of the players who can play, and then once assigned remove them fromt he list to the new list, so when everyone has played once, we all get randomly drawn again
-
Yeah full tilt for sure, best variance of good Sngs and low/medium buyin MTTs. Plus a variety of games for the non heldem of you amongst the group.
AND its easier for NDN:)
-
I think that 100% of the cash should go back to the BAP. This is the best way to keep it going and to build it up.
Im happy with FTP also.
I also think we should draw up a list of tourneys that would be ok to play.
Oh and as for a rail... i dunno, perhaps a simple post of Tourney ID, position, winnings and Bust Hand using pokerhand (we can show how to use this if people dont know) would be good enough.
-
I don't think committing 100% of a cash back to the BAP is a good idea. If I play for 4 hours and take down a good cash, there should be some reward. I'm not saying I get everything over the buy in, but I think eejit's percentage works just fine.
-
I just think that by only putting 65% back into the BAP you will struggle to make it profitable as a running BAP. It means that someone who invests $1 but plays well in a tourney has the potential to be earning more from the BAP then someone who may have invested $50. i dunno, just my 2 cents
