i left stars long ago so i dont need to worry about things there anymore LOL
I love Stars. Best tournaments, most players, best ranges. But, the question on the table: are there bots? And, I would say yes. But, it seems most of you have a convoluted opinion of what bots are. Bots are programs made by players to take certain actions under certain conditions. They in no way influence how the cards are dealt. Personally, if I knew I was sitting down at a table of 9 bots, I would be ecstatic. Talk about easy reads. But, I would say there are bots there, but I do not call it a bad thing.
So you can make a Bot to play for you? I guess to rake and such? Thanks Borg, don't get me wrong I play there to, maybe thats why they always call.
You're only gonna find bots in limit games, because situations so often repeat themselves there, unlike NL, as NL has way too many options. I have never heard of a programmer good enough to program for NL.
Thanks alot for the posts Borg, you don't post alot but when you do there golden. So maybe lil was right and wrong, lol.I really don't believe Stars would allow anyone to have an advantage, that would ruin them.I guess alot times hard to admit you play bad, I have no probs when winning.I think it was ND who said something like " I always remember the bad ones, but forget the good ones" was something like that. I have had some good moments , but my bad play has gave me some bad ones.
Borg is right. It sickens me to say it though.
Bots are awesome. They just get programed with odds. Id rather play a bot than a person any time, and they tried it live a year or 2 back. The bot lost, but played ok.
Stars makes $$$ millions ever DAY probably, no need to risk their livelihood.
EDIT - P.S. - I fnally managed to get a piece of crisp out of my tooth. WOOT!
Pokerstars has frozen my acount cause me and my wife play on it and myfreinds in the same town froze all our accountswhich isnt right
they thought u were in collusion with eachother. it happens more often then none. u need alot for them to unfreeze ur acct. good luck with it.
Ummm yes, i am trying to tell you i know your secret!!!!!
And it isnt a very good secret if i tell u what it is on here is it! lol
tbh- i dont actually know anything, im calculatedly guessing (calculated707ly guessing you might say) on a certain thing. Im 99% wrong, but still!
I gotta agree with USC and Lilred, They don't need to risk there money they are already getting for a ew dollars more.:D
Its simple, if you are gonna open multiple accounts at stars, before playing LET THEM KNOW, for example: one is mine, one is my wife's and one is my son's then pokerstars will put you guys in a group where you can not play cash games or single table sit and go's together but MTTs wont be a problem.
Here is the cute part about the pokerstars problem. Ianleel was the person who got me started on pokerstars. They even froze my account even though I live in a city over an hour away from him. I got my account back the next day with no problems. I just had to send them a scanned copy of the front and back of my licence and a recent utility bill.
No christine that was me you sent it too and I will be there tomorrow for dinner............LOL:D
Stars will do that to a lot of people, dont worry, they will never again bug ya :)
lol, they will!!!!!!!!!!
OR if your brother repeatedly sends them bomb threats, like in my case, they might!
Pokerstars is a great site even though they froze my account cause i was playing on a different computer they have to check it out . I hope its back online today cause I miss my poker.
Well, thats not completely true. They will only freeze your account if the "other" computer from where you played on had:
a) relationship with an account with chargebacks or collusion.
b) multiple accounts had been created from it in the past.
See pokerstars not only records all your IP addresses but also leaves an ID on your PC and Modem so that they can track multiple accounts creation which is in fact one of the biggest issues stars has
WOW that sucks
Ummm, yeah they are pretty strict with many things there, and they really do stay on top of everything, I know that for sure!
lol is all i will say no comment about that
thank you for the warning
sites love grabbing cash but gotta just jump through whoops to get it back out
I don't really trust online poker at all. Thats why I only play free games. I will never deposit money into a account unless it was won -free money. I agree how it is funny how the people that complain about the sites keep playing at them. That makes no sense.... Also I think playing in the 9-18 people ring games is crazy. Im pretty sure collusion is pretty common and all it would take is 4 good players to take all the cash. I have noticed all the paired boards and flush/straight draws online but I havnt played enough live to comment about it being anymore then normal.... The comments about the sites making enough money from rake and fees i think is funny. These are large companies that want to make money, if you think they wouldnt need to tweek the system a little to get the most profit they could without turning people off thier sites. I think that is a little naive.... But I can't comment on the hands and such. Like I said I havnt been playing long enough and I only play free games. However, regaurding the free games. I do think that the best way to get new players to deposit money into your site is to give them a little tast of winning and the perception that they are better then they think they are.
ScareCrow, let's look at the math of the rake. I play at both Stars and FTP, so this applies to both sites. If you watch the number of hands played per hour on a table, you will see that online you average 40 - 60 hands an hour. Now, if you are playing 10c/25c NL you will see an average rake of about 50c per hand. If you average 50 hands an hour, that is a income for the site of $25 an hour PER table. I've noticed on FTP that at certain times there are over 30 tables playing at that limit. That is an income of $750 AN HOUR for that limit. Now, goto the 1/2 NL and look at the rake. It's usually around $3 a hand. Again you are hitting an average of 50 hands an hour. That is $150 an hour per table, with around 20 tables playing. That is an additional $3000 an hour. See why sites don't want to be seen as cheating players. They make more money than you can imagine through rake.
If I could make $100 an hour by having 1 table running 24/7 in my house, I would do it in a heartbeat. I don't care who wins or loses, so long as I make my rake. Live casino's do the same thing, only the hands per hour is lower.
I do know that some sites employ players they use as "filler" on a table. They will tell you to join a certain table and you play there until the table is almost full. Once it's full they move you to a different table. You play on your cash, but they pay you per hand played, based on level. I've received a couple of those offers from different sites. I've never done it because I have a hard time trying to profit over a short time at a table.
So you dont think they set up the hands -to get as much people into the pot as possible... inorder to get more from the rake?
I think there are definately bots. It is unlikely that they host that many consistant players.
