American Idol - Season 9

Season 9 of American Idol is in full swing and I am hooked once again this year. Is anyone else a fan of the show? I know we had quite a few watchers last year and had some great discussions about the songs.

Anyhow, the "Hollywood Weeks" are now officially over and the top 24-contestants have been chosen. They will kick things off on Tuesday with the top 12-girls singing and then the top 12-guys will sing on Wednesday.

Here are some of my favorites from the Hollywood Weeks (in case you missed it or wanted to see them again):

Shelby Dressel - More Than A Feeling 34-Seconds in if you want to skip the summary and just hear the song (short clip).
She did not make it into the top 24 - I think this was a huge mistake. Simon even uttered under his breath during the show that they made a mistake. I've heard rumors that someone will be booted from the top 24 to make room for her - I hope that's the case!


Didi Benami - Terrified (Song by judge Kara Dioguardi) 30-Seconds in to skip the summary and hear just the song.
She is in the top 24.


Andrew Garcia - Straight Up (Paula Abdul cover) 1-Minute in to skip the summary and hear just the song.
He is in the top 24.


Crystal Bowersox - If It Makes You Happy 1-Minute in to skip the summary and hear just the song.
She is in the top 24.


These were some of the highlights of the first few weeks. In my opinion, there are a few great contestants who made it through, but they also eliminated some of the better singers and went with some really strange choices this time around. Hopefully they made the right decisions based on everything they get to hear and the short clips that the viewers get to hear don't give us the full perspective.

The only girl I like is the one with dreads that made it in.

I like all the ones you picked. And I think they made a mistake with Shelby Dressel they should bring her back she was one of the best I saw.

man the andrew garcia kid is the best. i really enjoyed his story. hes my top pick.

My wife watches it. I hate it. Rarely do I see anyone that I think has any real talent on it.

I do kind of like the girl with the dreads. But I think it's more in comparison to the others than anything else.

I watch the show whenever i can and love it, me and heather are getting kylee into it this year. kylee was dancing, and she really likes the girl who played the harmonica so that was our pick for tonite lol

Can people stop butchering Beatles songs please? It makes me cry.

"Oh, Darling!" was great, but the other two...dear God help me. :willy_nilly:
