ive been putting my 2 yrd old to bed at nine o clock. I was wondering if any of you think that is a good acceptable time to put her to bed. She seems to like to sleep in so thats gr8 for me

well i wish my son would go to bed that early but we cant seem to get him to go down until 10 11 or later then that smoetimes. we talked to the doctor about it and he said when they are this young to let them go to bed when they are ready. i dont agree with it but whatever the doctor says i guess i will go with.Quote:

If you want your child to go to bed early, then get them up early say 7am or 8am or even earlier. That way they will go to bed earlier. Also when you do put them to bed, tune down the tv or music and lights for a while till they fall asleep, that way they dont think they are missing out on something. They should go to bed 30 min after dark and wake up 30 min after sun up.

However, I think children need to be on a basic schedule. My girls had a set bed time and they went to bed when I told them it was bed time. Every since they had a bed to go to. Of coarse it varied when they became of school age. Because of wk ends and summer time. But they always had a set bed time always. Until they became 15 and then I let them stay up if no school. They would usually fall asleep early because they were not used to staying up. lol
How about a 10year old girl? School starts Aug. 24th and I would like to start a routine now. We're both going to need a routine. We're still getting used to living together. Wish us luck! You think she should have the same bedtime on the weekends? She will be 11 on Nov. 1st.
mine went to bed at 8 o'clock but I was "practically perfect in every way" unless traveking or party going on. Consistency is key. Also, a book was read every night. There was nothing that interfered with this. For a child, setting a calm envioronment with a consistant play of events makes the process doable and even welcomed in time.
i didn't have a computer then and my husband was out of town 4-5 days a week (with no distractions making scheduling this a very doable thing for me) made getting boys 2 years and and 6 months to bed one of my fondest memories, for quiet bliss followed. The whole process actually started at 7:30 with baths and ended about 8:15 sometimes longer depending on the book.
im a kareoke fan now and i have very few followers (I'm not very good), I used to sing every night to my boys too at bed time.Fond memories of them holding their hands over their ears and giggling while i lullabyed them. Still makes me smile to remember how they use to join forces to thwart me. I really loved raising my boys.
I vote you put them to bed whenever Sue said.... as she is good with advice.
Id just put them to sleep for 15 years, and wake them up when they were old enough to pay rent:)

My 3 year old goes to bed at around 8, but he gets up at 6ish every morning. I would let him goto bed later, but he still gets up at 6. Then he is fussy all day due to lack of sleep. He likes his bed time and doesn't fight it, unless he takes a REALLY late nap.
Things are going good with Marissa so far. We went to buy school clothes today. In the weeks to come, I'm sure I won't feel like it. Good point to know what she is reading, I wouldn't have thought of that. She is reading Goose Bumps. I think those books are ok. She likes to write scary stories. She talks to much. She is a sweet girl, but can be a pain in the *** sometime, just like any kid. I love her.
I agree the Goose Bumps series is ok. It may keep her interested and learning to "love to read" I think is important. Reading is such a big part of everything! My girls actually went through a period where they were into the Goose Bumps. It would not be my choice of reading but at least they were reading and it was something respectable. My youngest reads alot now. I swear when she read the Lord of the Rings I think she read it in like two day's. I could be a little off on that but It was quick. I will ask her. Again not a book or movie of my choice, yuck. But.... And although I let them make their own choices, I always kept an eye on it and they always new I was interested in what they were reading. Nonetheless who they were talking to on the phone, what they were watching, what they were listening to, and how they dressed. As I did voice my opinion and had the upper hand. It keeps them in check. I raised my girls and they saw their dad every other wk end. So I had to stay on top of things. Consistency is of most importance always!
