Has anyone had an experience with cancer?

Hi all! This question is for men and women. I am really concerned about my breast cancer. I am having a double masectomy tomorrow. If any of you have any advice for me or my husband please share. What kind of food should I avoid and what kind of food is the best for me. We are both brand new with breast cancer. I just found out I had it June 9th. Any advice for when I lose my hair would be appreciated to. I guess I just need some tips to help me and my family. Looking forward to hearing you experiences and learning from them.

well i havent personally had it but i have had close members of my family have it. its tough on everyone but it makes u stronger as a person. i have included a site from the americanh cancer society. dont be worried kitty they found it early. just be religious about the after treatments what ever they entail. ur gonna be fine. tell your husband u are gonna be a even better kitty when this is all done.

Ive had experience...

My Mums mother had liver cancer, which spread everywhere, she died sadly but she was over 70, so not bad!

My mum had ovarian cancer, she has a massive hysterectomy and that cleared it up. They got it early.

My Uncle on my dads side had pancreatic cancer. They are treating that now, he is still alive.

My Uncle's son has prostrate cancer. That was fixed easily and hasnt come back.


So all in all i worked out im 80% to get it myself! Figured upon hearing that id smoke more and make it 100% as I dont like getting sucked out on:)


As for advice, if its a double masectomy, depending on the treatment your hair should be ok. Unless you end up with chemo then in which car plugs, extensions, or just a nice hat work. And you never know, i found a bald woman hot once!!

For foods, fish is meant to be good, omega oils, vitamins, that kinda crap. All i know is that i got told to stay off carbonated drinks. Dunno if that is true or not. If you smoke, stop! If you drink, also stop (at least for now)

As for your husband, the only advice is to get ready for a lot of extra work looking after the house and you.

My mom had Pancreatic Cancer and i think the biggest problem i had was not talking about it to anyone. I held all my emotions in and it was killing me. I turned to drugs alcohol and other things to help me deal with the pain i was going thourgh with my mom. I think the best advice i can give you is to make sure you and your family are able to talk to someone about it. holding in all the emotion is bad for anyone and i wasted 1 year of my life because of this. The thing about losing hair what my family did was we all went out and bought the same hats it was like a family thing to be wearing that hat. it made my mom happy that we supported her and all wore a cap with her. i fyou have any question or anything else about this just pm me about it and i would love to talk to you about it

My grandfather had throat cancer, and lived with it for ten years. I'm not sure I have any better advice for you other than what you already got, just be sure to keep your family close and have an advocate with you about your care at all times to keep the doctors vigilant. Above all just enjoy life!

Thanks for the advice all!!! Ej sound like you need a cancer insurance policy. I bought one from Mutual of Omaha and pay only $120 a year. It's going to save me a ton of money. It's never too early to pre-plan if cancer runs heavy in your family. I think everyone knows somebody with cancer. Thank you all for your great advice and the last two will probably be used to releive the sexual tention for both parties in my household, at least in the beginning. I told him he only allowed belly button down. I told him he could come to the theater and have a front row seat!!!! The girls gotta get better before they have their coming out party!!!!

Thats the funnyest post in ages.

2 of my grandparents have passed due to cancer. One of them was stomach and the other had cancer in the liver or something like that. My aunt has had breast cancer, got the operation and then a few years later it came back. She got another operation and is currently cancer free. My uncle has colon cancer and he's doing good with just treatments.

I heard that my aunt eats lots of seafood and all kinds of it. My uncle just stopped his partying ways and eats everything still. About the hair loss, I think the only option is a wig if you don't want to be bald. But you never know some chicks look real good with a bald head. Or a cool bandanna on looks pretty good too.

I wish you all the best and a FAST painless recovery. I know it can't be painless but I hope it's bearable and minimal. My prayers are with you and your husband!

cancer policys are the biggest insurance rip off............It's for selling not for buying........just like time share. You might want to read up on it. There has to be plenty of sites on here that will tell you not to buy! I sold it and hated myself for it........same with time share......worst 2 jobs I ever had. Hope all will be right with your surgery
