A couple notes: I check behind on the turn to encourage a steal or light call on 5th; obv not caution here. Don't think I will be behind in this spot often. Let me know what you think.

As for the hand....

I prefer bigger PF raises, as from the BB you cant exactly rule any hands out. 78suited might call, noone knows. 2k for me preflop, but raising light works in bubble situations.

On the flop i dont mind as played, ill mix in checking behind sometimes to induce the turn bluff from the villain, or give them a chance to hit something.

If i bet the flop i bet the turn though for sure. If he calls there i easily check behind on the river.

As played, i dont see any way to get off this hand. Your commited after the flop pretty much, and i bust here like you if im playing the hand

Ok you played small ball preflop, i like small ball late in tourneys but you get no info on your opp. hand.

preflop i would encourage a bigger raise or a limp here... the reason for a limp here is he would prob raise preflop and then you can ethier pop him with a riase or just call..

other than that..... i am not playing this hand close to the bubble with your stack!!! i can wait for a pocket pair

I will agree with eejit on most of this. I think a bigger raise preflop would be better, but in this case it will not change anything. You played the hand very good, but he played it a bit better. There is no way you will fold the hand against the passive bb play.

I hope you took some notes on the player based on this hand, seeing as it is becoming a more common play. There are a lot of people limping/calling with AK, instead of raising/reraising.

Thanks for the input guys. As for preF raises, in middle to late stages I tend to stay in a 2.3-2.7BB range, for I open a wide range of hands and release to 3-bet shoves when light. In this spot, I went with 2.5BB as aJ measures well v. a SB re-shove here, yet I can fold to any healthy re-pop. I'm really looking for some folds here, which this particular BB had been quite passive in the previous rounds. As for 2k on the flop, as you both mentioned, I'm not releasing, so I wanted to leave the pot open to a re-steal, I certainly didn't anticipate a check/call. If I was behind, he was getting it either way, but I was resting that it was a float, dry ace, draw or under pair. A Post-flop check/shove I call with the notion I may be behind, but perhaps smoking out a re-steal, dry ace, draw, or even as light as b-m pair. But, he called. I favor if I bet the turn here, he will release any light holdings, his play wasn't capable of trapping with marginal hands, which under some circumstances is +EV vs. hyper-active players like myself. So if I push in on the turn, I'm confident I will only get action when I am behind. Also, I have 7-9 outs or about 17% for the nut F, which slims the probably of a drawing hand trumping mine, so I feel I can let another card peel off. I couldn't conjure up any hands that would get additional value from a turn bet (except an a10, a6, a4 1 spade), however, I figured in position, a check behind could be equitable, as I open the lead to BB. As I mentioned at the bottom of the HH, it was intended to induce a steal or light call on 5 st. Thus once I check 4 st here, I am not folding 5 st to a lead out, and I am resuming the aggression on a check, as most often in this spot I will not encounter this much passivity from a heavier holding.

I think that pretty much covers most of what went through my brain, probably too much thinking for a LL game, where really the only thing that happened was a sort of situational cooler. Let me know what you think.

If your opponent calls your raise preflop, calls your continuation bet on the flop and all you have is AJ, id check the turn/river there or value bet the river, hes not shoving on you with 3 spades out there, NOR does he think you have a spade flush when you shove all-in on the river. Saves you money in the long run in cash and tourneys.
