A few years a, I had a great paying job, had just got my own place, and bought a nice older model truck, good enough to get from A to B. I worked 12 hours a day 6 days a week at a steel pipe plant, busting my butt, making a good pay check.
I have always been interested in playing poker and watched it when i could on tv, and played with family on the weekends fairly regularly. 3 outta 4 times i would win this games, and everyone said i should try my luck online at absolutepoker, which is where my mom played at the time. I thought about it for several weeks, but taking on so many new bills, I put it on the back burner for a while, however i did get online and checked it out. I played a few play money games and freerolls. Needless to say i thought it sucked, i was lperplexed though, as i watched the cash games, and big tournys unfolding, with thousands to be won. I also thought that the bad beat jackpot looked cool, and how it would be great to win that.
Another few weeks went by and I got a good sized paycheck, with over 48 hours overtime. Bills were cuaght up the dog was fed, and i had food in my belly. I decided then i would deposit 100 bucks in absolute try my luck. Man was I hooked! I played cash money.25/.50 and tournaments for a while doing decent, sometimes going broke, then i would put in another 50 or 100, and keep trucking. Working from 7am to 7pm,6 days a week, then playing poker till 2 am in the morining, was beginning to take its toll on me, and i was putting in about 200 bucks a week in poker, praying i would win it back in a big tourny, or even better hit the bad beat jackpot
One night after working in 104 degree weather, tired as hell, i came home, got a good cold shower, and zapping a mighty meal in the microwave, I sit down to play some poker. I had 274 bucs in my account, so wasnt doing too shabby. I noticed that the bad beat jackpot had been hi the night before, and it had reset at a lil over 120k. Thats a bummer i thought, becuase i had gotten huge. I sit down a my usaul 4 cash tables, .25/.50 and ate my food, chillaxin doing good at a few tables. I played till about 2:30, then i was getting pretty tired so i closed out three tables and kept the one i was doing really good on open, deciding i would leave when the blinds came around a few more times, and get some sleep before work if only 3 hours worth. About the same time i got pocket queens, and i trhought great, i would milk em for some money and just limp in. A few people jumped in the pot, and off to the flop it went. I landed trips with a board of 6d qh 9d. Ok good so i bet 3 bucks when it came around to me which the bb called and two others folded. On the turn another QUEEN! BB checked so i decided to check also hoping to draw him into betting on the river. A 8 of diamonds hit on the river, and im thinking great maybe he landed a good flush draw, and he bet big too, putting up 25 bucks. I had about 120 bucks, so i raised him 75 thinking ya i got his flush, so he goes all in with like 90 bucks, and i insta call him. I watched in dread as the pot went to hime, with a 10 high straight flush. Then the table froze and next thing i see, a big jackpot banner with shooting stars and raining chips!!! I HAD hit that bad beat, finally after all that hard work, and got 67k for losing 4 of a kind queens!
