Raising in a cash game-online ofcourse
previously in my strategy for cash games micros i told you that i raise the same raise every time regardless of my position, usually a 10 bet...bc i found that noone knows what you have, but it forces them to make more plays at you to find out what you have....i found this version more profitable because noone can EVER peg you on specific hand...kinda the same thing but different because your constant increase and decrease in bet sizing really catches your opponents offguard-
ok so i studied chris fergy's cash game play on FT poker academy. His probably works well in the higher limits, but i devised my own that strategy that works well in the lower limits, where im currently playing...
he states that instead of raising based on your cards and position, raise based on your position and how many people entered the pot infront of you...
for example...
most people would chuck 7T suited in middle position...NOT ME...i raise it up...
middle position, for me is generally a 4-4.5 bet...regardless of my cards...i like playing alot of hands, and i feel that holdem is a boring game if you sit back and wait for premiums...
early position, i base my play on how the rest of the table is playing, if they are tight, i will play alot of hands from early position, because we all know what a raise from early position is SUPPOSED to mean...a big hand...
however in the low limits for some reason people still call min raises, so i began to 3 bet from early position...and i must tell you, you should see these suckers fold...at most i get one caller, and i still make a big continuation bet if there is one caller...
from late position, regardless if im stealing or i actually have a hand to build the pot, i make about a 6 bet...if there is 2-3 limpers infront of me, i pot it, usually about 10-15x the BB..when you bet this much, only people with quality cards call you, if the board flops overs, i usually bet, alot of times you get people playing low-mid-Pocket pairs...
i take down a majority of my pots postflop and preflop, and for some reason, i shift into high gear as well when i have big hands, and i get paid off alot of times...i love it when people shove on me with 88, and im sitting there with aces or kings...OR if i have just stolen alot of pots and i am almost 1.5 times my buy in, i like to take risks with AK and AQ, someone shoves back at me and its only 1/3 of my already built up stack, i'll call that all day in position, ALL DAY
