how does someone make that mistake and picking a team that doesnt even play?
Theres already something posted Target, under week 8 sch.It's not hard to make a mistake, trust me I have made plenty.
Lots of reasons I am guessing..........
1.Looked at wrong dates when picking
2.Not too familiar with the schedules etc, was just picking a team
3.Was a total mistake
4.Other
It happens for various reasons and it actually happens pretty often (along with picking the same team twice).
It's unfortuante, but it happens.
i am not trying to make fun of the person but i figure if you really want a shot at winning this you would at least take to time and pick a team that is playing but on the other hand its one less person in the winners bracket.
It's possible that this person thought they were picking teams for week 7 and not week 8. Some of the first people to register for the second session thought we were starting with week 7.

Neither did targetguy or I intend to "make fun" or "hurt" anyone at all, all we are saying is that, if NDN makes something for us, its only fair that we also pay attention to what the instructions for the contest are, this way it will be fun for all :)
It happens. Several people who played the first session assumed that the second session started right away with week 7 (you were one of them) so it's pretty easy to make mistakes here (even if you read the rules).

I think you said something along the lines of: oh - i thought we were starting with week 7 or oh - i assumed we were starting with week 7
I was just using that as an example to show everyone how easy it is to be confused (no harm intended). There were many people who thought we were starting with week 7.
Mistakes are easy to make and that's all there is to it!

Shouldn't it be possible with a little bit of additional programming in the web app to prevent people from picking a team on their bye week and preventing someone from picking the same team twice (until the playoffs)?
It doesn't seem like too big a job to me.
I guess you'd need a table that stores the all the byes for each week.
The user's past selections are already being tracked so making sure they don't pick the same team twice is just a matter of going through the user's past selections and making sure there is no match.
Part of the challenge of the League is for people to have to think a lot and if it is done "mistake proof" then this part of the challenge is lost.Quote:

Also consider that ND is doing a lot already, I dont think that asking the participants to pay attention aint that much at all.
Once again this is only my opinion and no harm intended at all.
It would be possible to prevent someone from selecting a team twice or picking a team who has a bye, but that would ruin part of the competition!
It's up to each member to make sure they are paying attention to who they pick and they have only themselves to blame if they make a mistake!
