Im engaged. Properly engaged too.
Ask Jen on friday night to marry me. She said yes and just looked sooo happy.
For the details, ill post a quick thingy.
Went to see my parents for the weekend, so i can be godfather to my aunt's son, so my nephew i guess, and after that we hit up Jens parents on the way back.
Told my mum i was thnking about doing it, and we had a discussion.
She told me i should give her the ring her dad got her mum, or my dad got her or something, and if she didnt like it or anything, keep it, and hand it down when i have kids.
Its 24carat gold, with 1 carat of diamonds, a little cluster of 9 around a big centre one. Very sparkley. She hasnt taken it off (even tho it need resizing down by one size, but it fits fine).
Off home now, enjoy your day

Eeeep I'm still so excited for you guys! Proposals are wonderful wonderful happy times! Hooray for eejit!
I have a new ring with Klink's grandmother's engagement diamond set in, so I definitely approve of the heirloom ring choice. I'm not one for having my future husband spend inordinate amounts of money on me anyway even if he had it, and something meaningful but less expensive is always better than breaking the bank with a huge sparkly ugly thing that doesn't have any special significance.
Eeep still so happy! *gush*:willy_nilly:

me too...way to go guy...finally someone made u an honest woman....ok maybe we are asking too much from her....love the ring thing.....im big on heirlooms here in this situation ..but when they ask you to wear your grandfathers tux ....run! cloth was itchy back then....lol....u left some things out tho ...was it on one knee.....was it in front of her family? was it in the livingroom or kitchen? how did she say yes? .....was it really high pitched or more lady like? did you get a long talk from her dad? did her dad talk to at all after? man hope so! more details man! choose now to be a man of little words!?

oh also, on the ring size thing, I don't know how you guys do it over there, but if she intends to wear a wedding band and her engagement ring at the same time after the wedding, then you're going to want to keep the ring one size bigger than normal so they don't get stuck on her finger or anything. A little tip I had no idea about either and got from one of my married friends. So you may not need to worry about resizing after all, though doing that's pretty easy and inexpensive.

At least do it in Vegas so a bunch of us have a good excuse to get out there.
You do it in Vegas and I think you'll see a good amount of NDN'ers in attendance. I'll even organize a "Pay For Eejit101's Wedding" fund and we can all give you our wedding gifts in the form of money for a Vegas wedding!

Marriage?????
What's the hurry?????
Live with her for 5 years and if you don't get sick of her or her of you, then get married.
Youngsters???????
You been seeing each other for less than 6 months.
Think man, you must be enchanted by her.
Drive to the beach by youself to break the spell and then call me.

I too have to say this is crazy fast ....but only you know weather it is too fast for u or not...I agree that time spent getting to know your partner ahead of marriage is always a good thing.....If you are afraid you will lose her if you don't act quick ...then that is a sign that you should be wary...sounds like you've thought all this through tho so more power to ya....
