I figured I would make a quick post to address the most recent ban here at NDN.

Normally I make a point of it to not discuss the banning of a member with anyone (including the banned member themselves).

I don't like to waste my time discussing it and I never feel the need to defend myself in any decision that I make with regards to NDN.

I am as fair as I can be and I make each decision carefully and I am perfectly content living with the consequences of those decisions.

As most of you saw, the most recent ban was perfectly justified (I got the feeling that some members doubted my reasoning in the banning). Little did I know that we would see a return of this member and that he would admit to things that would obviously get any member banned.

Just to be clear, this is not the reason why I am removing/modifying the chips system. I can deal with anyone who cheats the chips system without it affecting other members.

I am removing and/or modifying the system to improve NDN and that is the sole reason. I loved the system, but it put too many limits on who could participate in some of our events and it eventually created a negative atmosphere around here. With that said, October will be the month of changes and they will be for the benefit of the community as a whole.

While we may have to temporarily deal with some banned members trying their hardest to get back, I am confident that they'll quickly realize it's a waste of their time and that they are not welcome here.

Thanks for your patience with regards to the changes and to the banned members.

Hey NDN, just a question- why does this member still show a user profile like the rest of us, with normal headings on all his posts with the rep boxes and everything, just no chips, while other users who have been banned in the past only have their old posts show up as Guest? Is there a difference in the banning of these members?

It basically depends on how active the person has been in the past.

If someone joins the forum and makes a post about Viagra or something along those lines, then they have joined with ill intent and I can simply delete them and any trace of them from the system.

If a member has made 3,000 posts and I want to make sure the member can't come back as the same member, I place a ban on them so their account exists but they can't gain access to it.

I do, i do, I do!

This sounds like an answer that a preacher might ask for. I was simply asking for a yes or a no. :drool5:
