I just had a nice chat with my twin sister today and she made me realize
how much I was always like my dad and that I have finally jumped to the other side of the fence from my fathers ideology.
I laughed and said "No way, I was like Dad". She proved me wrong big time. I realized how far I have grown as a person in the last 5-10 years.
I also realized finally that I don't like my father. I am OK with it.
My wife has said that she didn't like him for years but she was patient and respectful of letting me see it for myself. My sister however didn't hold any punches back. I was shocked at the stories she told me, that I did not know about my parents and about myself. Final conclusion: my parents are very judgemental people and they can't or won't ever change and I need to have a deaf ear on any of their critisism. I feel so much better now, because I have the support and love I need from my family of choice.
Just like my NDN family, we all need support.

My wife and my twin sister are my two better halfs.
I am so blessed to have them both in my humble life.

Oh Ringo, how I wish I could take your advice and just turn a deaf ear to their criticism. But they're so involved in my life, I just don't know how it's possible. I'm happy for you though that you have what you do and are working through it. I don't know what I'd do without Klink or my NDN family to keep me sane sometimes. I often wonder why family, the ones we don't choose, are sometimes the most annoying and aggravating people on the face of the planet. Why are we given no choice but to be around these people?

Sorry if any of my posts seem weird, I'm in a ranty mood tonight. NDN is helping, thanks guys for letting me just vent in my own way.

Tay you are still very young and are at the age of young people who are ready to leave the nest. When this happens it is possibly the most important thing on the mind. And the more you near to leaving the harder it is for parents to accept this. Some parents have a very hard time letting their children go. Allowing them the space to be independent and young adults. I promise you that someday you will understand. You will be able to look back at all the aspects of this situation and understand what or why it is happening. Especially when you are a mother. I am not saying that you will totally agree with it all even then but you will understand it. It will all work out for you just hang in there, and you can trust me as I have left home and remember that time in my life nonetheless I am a mother who's children are young adults that have left home to be on there own. (But one of them is back) And I realize it was nice when she was gone. Just kidding, hahaha!

You are a young adult now they will realize that in time. On the lighter side of things, you know your mom is a judge. That should tell you she is very used to making the decisions and them being final. No if, and, or buts lol. You will figure out a way to make her realize that you are capable of making your own decisions. She may not like them but that's life and they will eventually get over it.

I am sorry Ringo I did not mean to take your thread off topic. :)

I think it is wonderful that you have two better halves. Support is a good thing in ones life. Some people never have it. Although I know that I am truly blessed by so much in my life I would love to have a better half and a best friend like you do with your wife. That is the sweetest thing I think one can posses. My other half has other ideas of the things that are important in life. :(
