I will try to post all the big trades i found that happened today. Of course my rays did absolutely nothing... again wow

2:40pm: The Reds acquired third baseman Scott Rolen, according to SI's Jon Heyman (via Twitter). The next step is Rolen approving the trade. He's owed $4MM this year and another $11MM in 2010. The slick-gloved 34 year-old has bounced back to hit .320/.370/.476 in 373 plate appearances this year.

He did approve the trade

Jake peavy to white sox:

4:12pm: Peavy's agent, Barry Axelrod, told Tom Krasovic that his client accepted the deal because there was no guarantee that the Cubs and Dodgers, Peavy's preferred teams, would have made a move for the righty in the offseason. Axelrod knows Peavy's contract no longer looks like a bargain, so he says he wasn't expecting a deal.

Red sox acquire victor martinez

:35pm: MLB.com's Jonathan Mayo says (via Twitter) pitchers Nick Hagadone and Justin Masterson are in the deal (ESPN's Peter Gammons agrees). Gut reaction: nice haul. Mayo also says the two clubs are looking at additional names to add for Cleveland.

Twins get orlando cabrera: 12:08pm: Yahoo's Tim Brown said it was a done deal, with the Twins sending shortstop prospect Tyler Ladendorf to Oakland for Cabrera.

peavy went to the white sox's for young pitching. funny thing is padre's are screwed with pitchers now. my friend fromhigh school is a rookie this year and is getting rocked. look up josh geer's stat's leading the league in hr's given up by a pitcher this year. what a rookie year!:dupe:

Man I can hardly kee up with baseball anymore, the steriods issue has really damped my love of the game, however I will root for the twins, just for the big guy.

lol u need to talk to him and tell him to leave the ball down. i seen him hang curve balls like i hang my clothes out to dry. the pads suck regardless. i though adrian gonzalez was a gonner for sure but i guess they decided to keep him since they were getting rid of peavy. well i think boston got the best of the day. boston sucks too.

oh yeah you live there. thats his problem he is hanging everything up abd the hitters are way to good in the big league and they will hammer it. he doesnt have a fastball so if the curve isnt there he is done. also to his credit he gave up manny's first homerun back from his 50 game ban. lol

To me the surprises were with the Red Sox: they get Victor Martinez, they give up Justin Masterson, and they get Casey Kotchman. All three moves seem strange to me. Jake Peavy was finally traded, and I just hope for his sake that he can get back on the field as quickly as possible. The Phillies adding Cliff Lee is huge though, especially with signing Pedro Martinez as well. As usual, what the Reds did didn't make any sense.
