The two hardest sports on the body are i think lacrosse and soccer. Think about it. In soccer most of the players stay on the field with absolutely no stoppage in play for 2 halfs of 40 minutes each. They sprint for say one fourth of that in bursts and sometimes half to exert full energy in order to get to the ball. They do this many times during the game. Also during lacrosse you run up and down the field almost as much and soccer and lacrosse also have a physical aspect to there games as well

Soccer and lacross. I think it depends on what position you play as well. Fullback vs striker. Striker is pretty demanding yes, but Full back... uh maybe about as demanding as like a center in basketball.

I think that American football is not the hardest sport.
There are so many other sports that can drain you more
than you're football game.

I think that soccer/futbol is one of the few that are on the
top of the list. Every player that plays the entire game plays 90
minutes and never has a time to take a break. I have a friend who
played her entire life and she was so fit. There are so many breaks
in football!! How can that be the most draining?! lol

Second would be cross country/track. These people run
way too much than they should! lol I would never run as much and
train as much as these athletes. Crazy!

I wish that I would have joined a sport like this. I just do yoga and
run. I was a cheerleader in high school but there wasn't much training
other than working on how to tumble and such. I miss it actually..

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Squash_(sport)

Rallies between experienced players may involve 30 or more shots and therefore a very high premium is placed on fitness, both aerobic and anaerobic. As players become more skilled and, in particular, better able to retrieve shots, points often become a war of attrition (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Attrition_warfare). At higher levels of the game, the fitter player has a major advantage.
