Everyone here I'm sure has seen that painting of dogs sitting around a table and playing poker. I have to wonder, would dogs be the best poker players in the Animal Kingdom? What about cats?

Speaking of animals and poker, are sharks, donkeys and fishes really the best descriptive terms for poker players?

If you were to describe your poker playing style as an animal, what would it be?

Just some random stuff going through my head, sorry for the silliness! I am genuinely curious though. I'll think about my answers and post them later.

Firstly - This thread is just for ringo so he can say "woof woof".

Secondly - Sharks and fish come into it as its basic food chain things. What eats sharks? Nothing. What eats fish? Everything.

Donkey was termed as its a derrogatory name used to describe someone who sucks. "Stop being a donkey" coins it nicely. That isnt a poker term, it just works in real life and at the table.

In higher limits youll find that noone coins these phrases as much. Playing styles are described with acronyms instead of associated words.

LAGtard is the most common slang for someone who lucks, Loose AGressive for the LAG, and tard.... well you know.

Others are TAG, LP, and many more can be found though not commonly used.

Hope this helps

Well I've seen the painting it's a classic. I don't get to play much poker but If I had to chose an animal to be I'd want to be as sly as a fox.

FYI I did a little looking around on the painting and there are actually 16 paintings in the series, by Coolidge. Only 9 of the paintings were actually dogs playing poker the other 7 were of dogs mimicking humans in other activities, such as dogs at baseball games and playing pool.

Interesting enough to find that in 1903 an advertising firm that was located in St. Paul, Minnesota by the name of Brown & Bigelow, hired Coolidge to paint a series of oil paintings for calendars that advertised cigars.

Interesting post Tay, thanks I enjoyed it.

I would say that honestly a llama would be the best at playing cards out of everything in the animal kingdom. Now you ask the question, why the hell in the world would it be a llama? Well there really is no reason i can post online that you will understand... they are just amazing/entertaining animals to watch. Yea this is very random but i once went on a trip to peru and came back, and all i could tell people about were the llamas. They may be lazy but in the wild they are funny as hell
