Here is a quick summary of what I did and where I was on my recent trip:

Day 1
Left Minnesota & arrived in Chicago. Stayed at Harrah's Casino (in Joliet just outside of Chicago).

Day 2
Went to Wrigley Field to watch the Twins lose to the Cubs (it's extremely rare for the Twins to play the Cubs - I think they've only played 6-times). They took 2 of 3 in the series so all is well on that note. Wrigley Field was awesome and made me extremely excited for our new stadium next year to get back to outdoor baseball! Traffic around Wrigley was horrible and it took hours (literally) to get just a few miles after the game.

Day 3
After finally getting out of the "post game traffic" and a random construction zone in the middle of nowhere, arrived in Elizabeth, Indiana at Horseshoe Casino (formerly Caesars Palace) at about 3 AM. This place was actually quite large and I was a big fan of it. They claim to be the largest Riverboat Casino in the world! Their hotel is extremely far from the casino - They even have the "walking escalators" that you see in airports to help you move along.

Day 4 & 5
Arrived in St. Louis, Missouri at Harrah's Casino. I was also a big fan of this casino (which is also a riverboat casino). While in Missouri, checked out the Gateway Arch and took a tour of the Budweiser Factory (I would recommend both to anyone who visits Missouri). If you can only do one or the other, definitely go with the Bud tour!

Day 6
Arrived in Council Bluffs, Iowa at Harrah's Casino (also a riverboat). I had one of the worst experiences of my life here (more to come on that in the near future).

Rest Of Days
Took part in all of the festivities of Grandma's Marathon (Google if you're not familiar).

That about sums it up. I'd go into more detail, but that would ruin the mystery!

I'm not into baseball really but that must have been neat to watch a game that was a rare event. Anything that's rare is always interesting.

I wish I could travel to different casino's and tourist destinations! I'm sure it was fun, thanks for filling us in!

What was you're favorite place that you visited? I haven't been to Chicago or St. Louis but would like to.

I just want to make sure that everyone knows that Council Bluffs is part of Omaha. Ignore the Iowa part of it's name, we've disowned it.

Looking at NDN's post, perhaps he knows why we did lol.

Sounds like you had a great trip for the most part! We're really glad to see you back. I'll let Klinkman tell you his feelings about Council Bluffs, though lol. I'm not entirely surprised you didn't have the best experience there. Why did you choose Harrah's Casino? I can't wait until Klinkman is 21 and we can start visiting some!

Honestly, this trip (like every other I take) makes me realize that there truly is no better place than home (Minnesota). I mean that too!

Denver is the only other place that I could picture myself living, and that's only because it's very similar in many ways to MN.

I'll NEVER forget that Council Bluffs is in Iowa and I will NEVER return (I'd never step foot in the entire state again if it wasn't a border state and necessary for me to travel through to get to places). Hell, I hate Iowa so much right now that I may drive around the damn place just to get where I need to go.

Harrah's has a pretty good rewards system in place so all of the rooms on the trip were free. It doesn't take much play at all to get free rooms so I encourage everyone to join Total Rewards if you haven't already.

I suppose I could look myself, but do you know if the ones in St. Louis are the closest to Klinkman and I in the Tulsa area? If not, do you know where the closest one is?

Did you get to meet up with anyone else on the forums during your travels? Maybe Klinkman and I can meet up with you the next time you're relatively close by!

I learned that same lesson years ago NDN. I travel to 42 states and I love Minnesota, Colorado, Northern California, Hawaii and Oregon. The rest of the states
are not very, shall we say hospitable in some way or another. I have been robbed, beat up, thrown in jail and just plain scared for my life.
Home Sweet Home. Glad you made it home in one piece.

I would guess you were given a ticket for speeding, then they found and old emply and you then arrested over night till you could see the judge.
You paid the fine and went to Bluffs, were you got so drunk trying to shake off the bad memory of being in jail. You must of said something wrong cause 2 Indians beat the crap out of you and you lost a tooth and broke your arm.
The hospital wouldn't except your insurance from another state, so you had to use your credit card to pay the $3,749 bill before you could leave.
As you were leaving the state, you got pulled over again and were given another ticket by the same cop. He said the words that will haunt you forever "Thanks for visiting Iowa, You all come back soon".

ROFL! Do have to say one thing. Did you get a chance to eat at the Mexican restaurant behind the strip bar. [Think it was called "Bottem's Up at the time":grin: Awesome food there and huge servings. I know that place all too well. Been like 18 years since I've been there so they probably shut down.

I remember the time I was there and this one car was following me and I couldn't shake them so the cops had this line of cars pulled over and they pulled me over. So, I tried to explain to the cop that these guys were following me [they were even standing in the middle of the road in the car watching the cop and myself and I'm like "Officer these are the guys following me" "Will you get them please?] and because my plates were from NY at the time. He immediately wanted to search the car for drugs and guns.:grin: That guy was so mean to me and then he finally let me go and then before he leaves he's like "See their not following you no more". Man that made me so mad.

Glad you had a nice trip omit council bluffs.. lol
