My niece rolled her car yesterday and shattered her 10th vertabrae.
I was told she may not walk again and I was told that as long as the
spinal cord wasn't severed, she should recover.
Any opinion is welcome.
Maybe somebody had a similar experience.

I'm really sorry to hear that. I will pray for your niece and hope that she will recover to full health. I had a friend roll his car and was paralyzed.. He was not able to recover because he broke his neck. I know that it is really difficult for doctors to predict anything, but if there are signs of hope they will be able to determine how long the recovering process will take. Best of wishes to your niece and family.

I'll be praying for her and your family, freeringo. And yeah, the spinal cord is where it's at. If there's nerve damage there, walking is no dice. I'm not sure how serious just a shattered vertebrae is as far as that goes, but it doesn't sound good. At least even if she can't walk she'll still be able to enjoy life. You're in my prayers, friend.

I have a friend who is in a wheelchair from a serious car accident and he went to Denver for rehab as well. It took a mighty long time, but he's quite independent now. Definitely check them out, if they can't help you I know a great orthopedic in Rhode Island too.

I sent an email to my friend asking for the number to the specialist in Colorado. If you need it, my doctor in Rhode Island is Michael Ehrlich, and his number is 1-401-457-1540. I'll get you the other number ASAP.

I am a certified orthopedic technician, which is basically a bone nurse, lol. I would say that yes she should recover just fine, as long as there isnt any nerve damage. She may never be able to do anything that will possibly injure her back again, scuh as wrecking again. Stay away from any thing like this, and she will be fine. But as always follow all doctors orders, and dont try to slack off a few of the doctors orders, because they have these guidelines so that a person can have a safe healthy recovery!Especially with a major back injury
