I know we have a space in our profile to indicate where each of us are from, but has anyone ever thought to having a visual map where we could chart where everyone is from? I think this would be cool, especially for new members, to show how popular and widespread this site can be, and also to add to a sense of global community within the forums. For privacy concerns you wouldn't necessarily have to associate your username with a pin on the map, it would just show visually the various locations of our members. What does everyone think? NDN, is something like this possible to implement?

I love the concept, but I think this might require a lot of work and could take quite a while to implement.

I'll look around and see what is available to make this easier.

I had some software that did it county by county for the UK, and regions in other countries. Dot think pins in maps is possible, but pins in regions is i think.

Ill see if i can dig it up when i get back from work

I have added a map that shows the location of our members.

This shows the location of all of our members on one map and it also shows the location of the members who are currently online on the other map.

This can be found here:
Member Map

It can also be located in the main navigation bar.

I opted to go with this map style as opposed to one that listed usernames to protect the privacy of each member.

Enjoy!!!

Hooray! Thanks, NDN! This is just the thing I had in mind!

I love this NoDepositNeeded.

That is the reason I started the poll where are you from, and now we have a visual I am very excited about.

Thank you very much for doing this. Now just to determine who is who in this case, lol.

I could tell you where I live and you would still get lost.
I live in the boonies.
The 2 closest cities with more than 10,000 people are
80 and 110 miles away, south and west. Reno and Redding.
East is desert for 200 miles, however 50 miles away is the black
top desert where they hold the burning man festival every year.
Never heard of Burning Man. Google it. Hippie fest.
North I would have to travel 150 miles to Klamath Falls Oregon to find more
than 10k population.
There are more Black bear in our County than people.
There are 28,000 Black Bear in the whole county.
And you wonder why I stress when I go to a store with more than 2 people in line. I am not used to it. My worst nightmare last month was when I waited at the DMV for almost 20 minutes before I was helped.
20 minutes! Can you believe it?
