So I am once again stricken with a stay at home ailment, and although my body and actual head are screaming for stillness, my mind is a-wonderin'.

A recent observation:

Seedless watermelons are big, fat, juicy liars. It almost makes me want to sue the watermelon industry, but my deep rooted love for them stops that thought at the door. You see, seedless watermelons are not truely seedless. You might not find the black seeds in the red flesh, but there are still white seeds hanging on (literally). They should stop with the false claims, and call them 'free of black seeds, but still have white seeds' watermelon. Maybe that was thought of but they were afraid of being called racist. This brings forth another thought. Since these so-called 'seedless' watermelons still have the whiteys, are they giving superiority to the white seeds by not placing them in the class of seeds as the blacks? Perhaps watermelons are racist. I guess watermelons could be racist, sexist and discriminate all sorts of ways, I would still buy them and devour them, even to the rind. Yes, I eat the rind. It's delicious.

When I was about 5 years old, I remember sitting on the trunk of my father's old cool car one hot summer day. My mother had just finished cutting up a watermelon and I couldn't be more thrilled. My dad brought a piece out to me and a few of my siblings and neighbors who were accompanying me outside on an ever so fresh day. I of course attacked it because there was no time to waste! While my dad and others spit out the black seeds, I swallowed them with each bite of redness. This is when I was first told the myth surrounding the swallowing of seeds. If you swallow them, a watermelon will grow in your tummy. "SWEEEEEEEET" I thought! That means I could have watermelon all year round, all the freakin' time! I was really dissapointed when I finally realized they were teasing me and that lump in my belly wasn't a watermelon growing, but instead it was a buldge because I just ate too much of it.

I wrote this when I was doped on on the meds from the doctor, so I was feeling numb and happy and good, which is rare but nice!
