I'm playing poker for a few years now, and I have noticed the human race is a very greedy one. Just before someone gets anoyed with this expression, I refer to myself also ;)

Somehow, when the stakes rises, and opportunity'scome, we all seem to think we are invincible. How can this be is a question that is haunting me for quite a while now. What is is that we do, have or create that we become some kind of wild beasts as soon as we smell a profit? I've seen very solid poker players go crazy on a hand cause the "odds" where in their favour. Somehow, we seem to confuse positive odds and a definate win. Is this in our human nature?

There is even a website especially for greedy people. It's really amazing to me.

So is there anybody out there who can tell me, why are we all so greedy?

I think about similar topics and find that it effects a player's game more than they realize. Greed plays a huge role in their actions when math doesn't solve the question. I think that it is partly because most players online are unaware of it. Playing live, makes pride blushed and isolated. With all of the money that you see online, the gurantees, tournaments, pro's, high stakes, etc. people can't help but want it. It might be a human characterstic or possibly a social issue, but I think that if it does exist in every player/person, then it must be confronted by the individual. Obviously these swings are moderated in the poker world, just not publised for it is impossible to do so. Sure tips, advice, feedback, and surroundings will influence the outcome but the individual must take the action when it's their turn.
