I just want to know how many of yous are smokers. (and I want to brag a bit I guess).
I was a smoker, at least a pack a day, maybe 2 packs if i'm drinking. I smoked for 20 years at this pace i guess, and now since Jan 1st, I just quit. I'm not taking anything or sneaking (LOL)... it's day 14 and I'm soooo surprised I've made it this far.... especially since I'm around smoking all the time still and play online poker (that's prob when i get the most cravings)
and if you were a smoker and quit, how'd you do it?

I also picked up the nasty habit at around 12 and tried to quit a few times, but I find it to be very hard to do so. I'm 27 now and have 2 little girls that I want to watch grow up. If you can quit by the 29th tell me how you did it. Good luck and I hope you do drop this bad habit.

Yeah for sure will def keep an update, I am stressing as it gets closer though!
All I know is I need to stock up on lots and lots of toothpicks and gum!
I don't smoke a lot, when I am at home maybe 4 a day , if out maybe half a pack, but it is those key moments when I do smoke that I will have the toughest time with, like when I get up, with coffee, after eating, before bed etc.

Wow, at 12, you were very young tookaotik
I started when I was 22, so only 6 years and not even 1/4 of a pack a day :)

The patches seem to be good right?
How about that new pill?

I've never tried any other Quit Smoking Product.... so i don't know about em' I do know some people who are on the patch, but they're still smoking?
With this time around, I quit cold turkey..... How I'm doing it? I dunno, I guess it's just time and my body is agreeing..... I did the gum last year or something when I tried to quit, and it was soooo disgusting I thought smoking would be better.... so i didn't quit smoking at that attempt. (day 16 for me, YIPPEE)

I have heard this pill, CHAMPIX from the Viagra makers, Pfizer, gets you to quit easy

Quitting smoking IS NOT EASY, no matter how many gimmicks they put on the market to help. Just buy some toothpicks, and regular gum, and keep your mouth busy, and tough it out!

I have it, it's called Chantix. It works by taking the disirable flavor out of cigarettes by releasing the same chemicals in your brain. When you smoke a cigarette, it doesn't have the same taste and you don't get the same high from it. I am saving them because I need to take breaks while playing poker and it helps with the process. Otherwise I would play for 8 hours straight, could go on tilt, and loose my roll. However, that's a good start. Word of advice for quiting anything. The more you think about it (AA, NA) the worse it becomes of a problem. Just don't think about it until it arrises and choose not to.

That's not really how Chantix works. It works by filling in the slots in your brain where the nicotine go's. I know I've tried it. It only helped me a little. I had stopped smoking at night. You are correct though saying it makes your cigarettes taste bad. That it does. It also messes with your brain big time. I was having 6 or 7 dreams every night and recalled not only the dreams but what I was thinking in the dreams as well. It was a nightmare. There has also been more than 250 Chantix users in the past 2 years that have killed themselves or tried to kill themselves. Not to mention the the people that have flipped out and tried to hurt there loved ones on it. There is a Class action lawsuit against the makers of Chantix for over a year now. That script cost me $152.00 for a two month supply, No medical coverage will pay for the drug because it's still experimental.

The chemical replacement is the same thing as chantix blocking nicotene.

Maybe so.
But I think you have missed my point.
My point it that the drug is dangerous and the risks out weight the cure.

Everything you do in life is dangerous. The beef you buy at the grocery store is injected with chemicals. Your cell phone causes cancer. You can't escape danger. - That really sucks in a way. But thanks for the heads up with the lawsuit and risks.

I was taking it for two weeks and I couldn't control my rage. I would blow up for the tiniest reasons. Once I came real close to hitting my girlfriend over something very petty and I'm not the type of person that hits a family member or any woman for that matter. They even have a TV commercial asking people taking it if they had tried to hurt themselves or a loved one and if they had to join in the class action lawsuit. There's even a web site were people that took it go to tell there horror stories. Here's the link!
tried once and was told to start again by everyone attitude way out of control

I just all the users of it are ok in the long run and that pfizer will start really testing stuff before they put it on the market.

These companys will always put this stuff out with out really testing them the way they should. Because they do not want to lose all that money they will make of the product. I should know, I know someone that works for Mercks & co. And they told me that the drugs they test get pushed through to quickly. So that the company can get all the money they can, before another company gets the same product out.

Bottomline is that medicines are dangerous and that they are not for EVERYONE, so before you auto-medicate yourself, its always better to get a doctors advice too...
Medicines like this can sell easily because ppl want to quit, but at what expense?m Gotta be careful guys!
