How many times have you been pulled over by the police in your life?
Well for me, the answer is few. And they are always nervous, a little awkward and annoyed moments. However, last night was completely different. Except for the nervous and annoying parts.

Jess and I are leaving her house, taking some side streets to get Old Town. We planned to catch last call, and had only had a beer, so we were fine. We're driving for like 1 minute when we noticed there was a cop following me. We turn some street and he keeps following, and eventually flashed his lights on. Yay, time to talk to the cops.

The cute guy comes to the window and says he pulled me over cause my license plate light was out. I questioned that, because I didn't know what the heck he meant - I didn't know I had a license plate light out and I didn't know it was illegal to have that (all my other cars were lightless). Anyways, he takes my ID, insurance and registration and calls it in. Another cop comes to the other side of the car, and asks for Jessica's. She gave it to him, but it was kind of weird. Suddenly, they were all around us. Apparently there is some criminal in my family with my last name, and "we are lucky they didn't come to the car with their guns at us" said the cop. Um...ok. I joke about there being a lot of us, but not all are related. And how one time a gas station refused a good check from me. It was funny. I promise. I then made the announcement that I'm getting married and asked if they were single. Um...yeah.

This call in is taking forever, and the time is getting closer and closer to two. Jess tells them it's her birthday, and we're just trying to go to the store for some late night snacks. The other officer starts making fun of my kneedles and yarn in the back seat, asking if we just came from knitting class.

All the while, I REALLY have to pee.

Then the lady on the other side of the radio starts talking some mumble jumble about the car registration not being valid and all this other crap the car has gone through, illegally. I start to freak a little because I did have a hard time registering my car. Luckily, it was unrelated. Woo.

Eventually, the lady says " Jen G*******,....Jessica L****... CLEAR". Sweet, sweet relief.

We drove to the store in case they were spying on us, and then bolted to the bar because, dammit, it was 1:55 but I had the faith! And hell yes the door was unlocked, and we had time for a drink. I love the Pearl(bar). We didn't leave until 2:20. Gave us plenty of time to drink up and chat -- and to learn some VERY interesting things.

Now, I know this story is really random and pointless and not very funny to read.... but if you had been there, as cliche as that is, you would understand. I probably left some things out, but whatev. Basically, there are some pretty stupidly funny policemen in this area.. itching for something to do. I'm glad we were the victims!! Last night was simple but amazing, and a great way to top off the night's birthday festivities!

They do and it makes me so irritated, like look officer, i didn't break any laws, I am a clean and polite enough person, you want some respect, show me some too, shyte!

P.S. I am trying to clean up my usage of the S word, my daughter keeps reminding when I do slip that it is a bad word, so shyt is my clean version, I kinda like it, makes me giggle whenever I say it!!
