Hand one....

Working it out mathwise, vs shoving ranges assigned to each player, thats a bad fold. But I would probably have raised preflop then had to call. If your limping there your obviously folding to a raise, so not a big difference.

Hand 2 - WTF?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

if u would have bet diff. or made diff moves, the computer wuld have dealt out diff, flop turn river anyways :lurk5:

Hand 2 is super standard ship IMO.

Standard ship? as in you shove?

ScareCrowAKA
12-20-2011, 06:19 PM
OK I actually read that thing... Im reading that right... all in shove preflop w 10 7 suited, UTG, w 1.5 million left... to win 400K?

considering if u are called u are getting 1:1, and the absolute best u can hope for is a coin flip... Which isnt likely and I would guess 95% of the time if called u are a 4:1 dog...

ya, that was pretty stupid, lol :dupe:

U can justify it if u shove knowing 5 people will call, and if they do, then noone can say u didnt know that, lol

Standard ship? as in you shove?

Yes, as in I shove. I guess somone would have to run it through Wiz to be sure, but people tend to call way to tight in this kind of situation, so tight that it's usually profitable to shove 72 offsuit in that situation, let alone something like 107 suited where you gain a little bit of equity from straights and flushes.

i get where he is coming from w this... he assuming noone is gonna call with a pair less than Qs Js... and the chances of any pair being dealt to any player in a round is like 45%, and half of those u have atleast a coin flip odds against...

400K is 25% his stack

So hes saying it worth it to invest the 1.5 mil to chase the 400k

I cant figure the odds to find out actually how many times u are gonna win in that situation, but u would have to win 4 out of 5 times for the risk v rewards to be in ur favor

but I dont get how people apply this to tournaments, this is more applicable to cash games

tournaments u have to weight in buy-in cost, the jump of prize money to the next spot out... how much u have in relation to the rest of the table...

to me risking 1.5 mil there when ur only a double up from the big stack... is way to much to risk, unless the next 10 spots in the tournament all get paid the same amount... then I can kind of see risking it, but I still dont think I would

holdem is a flop game, If Im gonna make a move there, I would do it after the flop

if u are right and only get called w a big pair, then they more likely to fold after the flop... that would furthur add to the overall odds of winning in that situation

... but no way i do it UTG

eejit101

Ive just played live, and raised to £12 UTG with £0.50/£1 + straddle of £2.

UTG+1 shoves for £99, MP all in for £80,LP all in for £79, SB all in for £54.

Im sat there with KT suited. At this point i am up £400.

So im thinking surely i have outs. And im getting about a million to one!

I call (after thinking about maths).

Flop 9 8 J. turn 8. River Q.

Me = Nut straight.

SB mucks.
UTG+1 mucks (said he had aces, like hell he did).
MP mucks.
LP shows 99. (BAHHHHHHHHH)

Anyone disagree with call?

ScareCrowAKA

ur basically risking 80 to win to win 350... plus u break about even finishing 2nd to the short stack...

w a suited 2 gap connector... I would have called... even if u are only like 22% to win, ur getting even odds

ScareCrowAKA

... i did the holdem calculator ... w u up against AA, 99, AQ, 67s ... it puts u 15% to win vs the aces, but square vs everyone else... but if u were up 400 already, y not?

eejit101
12-22-2011, 06:55 PM
exactly! i did think that. and figured 17%, so close!
