I live just a few miles from an old abandon mine called Gold Belt Mine.
However, I discovered that more than 1/2 of the 102,000 ozs taken were found by placer mining. That's where you find old dry river beds and follow them up till you find a suitable area and start digging and searching for eroded sides that could expose a vien. There is also opal found here too. I google Earthed the area and found several water flows coming off of Diamond Mountain and all are less than 4 miles driving and hiking combined.
You're always going on adventures, yet you rarely update us on how they "pan" out!
Heck ya on the use of pan there; pure genius!

Gold hunting postponed due to a Sierra Nevada case of beer and a microphone. I can barely talk, no hangover and my back don't hurt.
Damned good weekend at our cabin again this time with our 23 year old daughter and her boyfriend. This time we brought the Karaoke equipment
and sang until we lit a giant fire in our fire pit and had to hose it down it got so big and a bit of a breeze, No rain since June so very very dry conditions. Phew:svengo:
It must of been a couple of drunks who built that fire. :sifone:
